How we handle the information you share when you request a quote or get in touch, and the choices you have over it.

This site is run by Selina Chen, trading as MyChinaInterpreter, an independent English to Mandarin interpreter based in Xiamen, China. This page explains what we collect, why, where it is held, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written plainly on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask.
What we collect
When you submit the quote form or message us, we receive the details you choose to give us: your name, the contact details you provide (email, phone, WhatsApp or WeChat ID), your company if you mention it, and a description of the work you need. That is all. We do not ask for passport numbers, payment card details or anything we do not need to quote and arrange the job.
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party marketing cookies on this site, and we do not buy or enrich your details from data brokers.
How we use it
We use what you send us for one thing: to answer your enquiry and arrange the work. That means replying to you, preparing a written quote, agreeing dates, and staying in touch about the booking. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
Where your information is stored
Quote form submissions are stored using Supabase, a hosting and database provider we use to receive and keep enquiries securely. Supabase processes this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy terms. Email you send reaches our standard business inbox. Messages you send over WhatsApp or WeChat live inside those apps, which are run by Meta and Tencent respectively and are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. If you would rather not use a messaging app, email or the form work just as well.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and booking details only as long as we need them: while we are in contact, for the duration of any work, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records and accounts. When information is no longer needed, we delete it. You can ask us to delete your details sooner, as described below.
Your choices and rights
It is your information, and you stay in control of it. You can ask us to:
- tell you what details of yours we hold
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your details from our records
- stop contacting you
We will act on a reasonable request promptly and at no charge. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Union or another region with data protection rights, those rights apply here too, and this section is how you use them.
Security
We take sensible steps to keep your information safe and limit who can see it. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we do not hold more than we need to, which is the best protection of all.
