On the ground in Beijing

An English-Chinese interpreter and translator in Beijing.

Beijing is China's conference and negotiation capital, not a factory belt. The work here is international expos and summits at the China National Convention Center and the broader Olympic Green venues, official and standards-body meetings, headquarters negotiations and partner sign-offs.

The premium is on a clean, accurate read of the room (what was committed to, what was deferred, and what the polite phrasing actually meant) rather than on walking a production line. Meetings cluster in the Chaoyang CBD and the Haidian tech and university district, with Tianjin a routine high-speed-rail day trip when a Beijing visit extends into the northern port belt.

YOUR TRIP
FAQ

Beijing interpreter, your questions.

Do you handle conference and formal negotiation settings?
Yes, that's the core of Beijing work. I interpret in conference rooms and official meetings, keep the register appropriate, and give you a precise account of what was agreed versus what was left open.
Can you also help with factory visits near Beijing?
Beijing itself is more negotiation than production, but Tianjin's port and heavy-industry belt is a short high-speed-rail trip, so I can extend the visit there if your suppliers are in the north.
Will I get a written record of the meeting?
Yes. You get a written summary the same evening (decisions, action points and anything that needs following up) so nothing is lost in translation after you leave the room.
What does a day of conference interpreting cost?
The rates are published above: $80–$140 half-day, $99–$250 a full day in the conference room or at official meetings, $800–$1,250 for the week. Travel across the Chaoyang CBD and out to the CNCC is included; there is no separate booth or simultaneous surcharge sprung on you afterward.
Is what's said in the room kept confidential?
Yes. Headquarters negotiations and standards-body meetings are sensitive, so I treat the room as closed: nothing discussed leaves it, and I am not feeding the other side on the quiet. You get a clean, accurate read of what was committed and what was deferred, and nothing more travels.
Do you work alone, and what if you're booked?
For most Beijing engagements you get me. For a multi-day summit that needs simultaneous interpreters in a booth, I bring in colleagues I trust and brief them on your terminology. If your dates are already taken, I'll tell you at once and recommend someone of the same standard.
