Chongqing is the manufacturing heavyweight of upstream China, one of the country's biggest centres for cars, motorcycles and electronics, with the supply chains that feed them. Much of the modern industry clusters in the Liangjiang New Area, while the city's position at the head of Yangtze navigation makes it the inland logistics hub for moving goods toward Shanghai and the coast.
The terrain is genuinely vertical and the districts are spread out, so a day of supplier visits is as much about route planning as language. English drops off fast once you leave the head office, and meetings run in Mandarin with a strong local accent, which is where an interpreter who actually lives the city pays for itself.

Chongqing is huge and hilly, can you plan an efficient day?
That's half the job here. Send me the supplier addresses and I'll sequence the route across Liangjiang, Jiangbei and the outer industrial zones so travel doesn't swallow your meetings.
Can you help with shipping and Yangtze logistics conversations?
Yes. Chongqing is the inland river-logistics hub, so freight-forwarder and shipping meetings are routine. I'll interpret the terms and write up what was agreed the same evening.
What does a day of supplier visits cost here?
The rates are published above: $80–$140 half-day, $99–$250 a full day across Liangjiang and the outer zones, $800–$1,250 a week. The route planning a hilly, spread-out city demands is part of the day rate, not billed extra, and so is the written summary each evening.
Do the automotive suppliers pay you anything?
No. My fee comes from you alone, so my read on a parts supplier or a tooling quote isn't bent by a kickback. When a manufacturer turns out to be a reseller, I say so. See product sourcing.
Is it you on the job, or a hired guide?
